regard to the length and to the responsible and onerous nature of

my service, and to the fact that I administered the Government of

Fiji, and the affairs of the Western Pacific in addition to the

discharge of the duties of my substantive office without addition-

-al pay, except on the last two occasions, and to the fact that

I have from time to time otherwise rendered gratuitous service in

respect of other matters of public urgency, Bis Excellency the

Governor will move the Secretary of State to be graciously pleased

to direct that in computing my pension I may be regarded as

a public officer who comes within the general principle, appli-

-cable to all Colonial Service, enunciated in Rule 7 of the Hong-

-kong Pension Minute of January, 1902, and that if 1 have made

any miscalculation in my computation such an amount may be added

to any pension to which His Lordship may consider me to be in

ordinary course entitled as will bring such pension up to a sur

not less than £1,000 per annum.

I respectfully hope that His Excellency the

Governor may in forwarding this Minute find himself able to

commend me to His Lordship the Secretary of State.
